Qassia Even Without the U Is A Great New Social Media
55New Social Community
It doesn't get much easier that participating at Qassia. Officially still in beta, they've got an interesting idea that combines the original works of Hubpages-like content with a community of individuals who write and rate each other.
The additional beauty is, of course, all the lovely backlinks that get generated to your website!
Like every social community we're uncovering, Qassia is free to join. However, you personally get paid in "Qassia dollars" for a variety of actions. At the moment, and we could be wrong, the dollars accumulating appear to be similar to Hubpages rating. The more dollars you get... but we don't think that can be the whole thing - you can see the problem right? If you accumulate dollars by telling, writing, and reviewing, ultimately the system would slow down. Again, not sure where they are going with this, but it's interesting to get in on the beginning of something so new to watch where it goes.
Here's a bit of information about their program and why it might turn into a pretty good "wiki" type of community. The overall point to Qassia is the writing. You have three ways to post: original content, pre-used but owned by you content, and stuff you legally have the rights to use and post.
The guidelines for writing are simple. Write, post. To be more specific, you write "for a few minutes" (in other words quickies), and post.
Qassia is designed for the person who gets quick ideas to jot down, or someone who knows quick tidbits of information. An easier way to picture this would be in Hubpages you post thought-out articles; in Qassia you post your "thoughts" or quick bits of real information. It is not a journal, and self-promoting is not an option.
There are more guidelines than this, but it's not rocket science and an excellent way - once the program really kicks in - to boost the backlinking to your site. Full details are on their website.
The last thing we will leave you is the method they are using to keep their social community "clean." Ten people must rate your writing prior to it going live. Here's a quick excerpt from their website:
"Each intel must be screened by a minimum of 10 users before being published (or rejected). This is to ensure that total garbage does not get into the index, and so that Qassia knows how to rank intel. You get $5 - $15 Qassia dollars in credit for every intel you help screen."
If you like writing short, perky posts along with building the backlinking to your website, Qassia (in beta as of February 2008) has all the hallmarks of being a growing community.
